Nokia BH501 bluetooth stereo headphones review part 2
or what a difference a change of operating system makes
The first two weeks with the Nokia BH501 was a little frustrating. I had not spent the time to get bluetooth stereo working on my MacBook Pro and while the sound quality was ok and only subject to the rare break up of the signal. It was only mono and on occasions a pain to connect. On the Dopod 838pro the sound quality was poor, the bottom end was real muddy and the signal would regularly break up.
Well on Tuesday I upgraded the Dopod to Windows Mobile 6 and what a difference that made to the sound quality from the headset. Not the same quality as my departed Koss KSC-75 but close. The whole range is now crystal clear, even at full volume to drown out the noisy girl on the phone sitting behind me on the bus.
At first I though the signal breakup problem had been resolved, seeing it passed the test of the walk from the bus stop to home under the powerlines without a hitch. However, this morning the breakup returned, it was only the section of road with powerlines that caused the problem many times before.
I have gone from somebody who was about to consign the BH501 to a cupboard unlikely to be used again. To using them regularly to listen to music from the Dopod. Though I need to get the bluetooth stereo working on my MacBook Pro or wait for Leopard which I believe has a2dp support.
My advice to anyone thinking of buying a bluetooth stereo headset, as long as you are aware of the signal breakup problems, intended to use them only inside or in a vehicle and have a very recent device to play music, then look at the Nokia BH501. If not stick to wired headphones.

In your absence from Twitter Kathryn and I voted. She is the Minister for SL, I am for podcasting and you were voted in as Minister of Mobile Web. So we were both wondering what your response to this article would be? iphone vs mobile web,
