Ray’s Kitchen

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Ray’s Kitchen has taken over from Maks Place on William Street. Still has the same signage, same tired decor, and an almost identical menu of Malaysian/Singaporean hawker dishes. While I ate sparingly at Maks Place, I really enjoyed their Roti and Murtabak, but generally found the noodle and rice dishes disappointing. So what did I order first time at Ray’s Kitchen …

Breakfast at Milk and Honey

Anybody who knows me, knows I am not a morning person. So breakfast reviews will be a rare occurrence, …

Andaluz Bar & Tapas

Friday, October 28th, 2011

The decor had been described to me as chic bordello, and that pretty much covered it. Large leather lounges, cushions galore, candles and art deco lighting fittings with lamps turned down low. The nature of the building, with a number of small rooms converted into the bar, led to a number of interesting spaces and […]

Mela

Vegetable Biryani

Still recovering from a cold, I thought about trying to treat my taste buds to some subtle flavours for a few seconds, before deciding my taste buds need to taste real flavours and I made the trek up …

A windy and wet October day, was a good excuse to enjoy my favourite winter meal, Raw Beef and Beef Ball Pho.

Where to eat lunch on a Monday?

Hong Kong BBQ

There are only limited options for lunch on Monday, so seeing I was halfway down Francis street, I might as well walk a little further to …

Hosting your own bookmarking service

Not happy with the changes to Delicious, unsure about what bookmark service to switch to, well how about hosting your own, with Semantic Scuttle? That was what happened with the State Library’s Family History Bookmarks, within 24 hours of the changes to Delicious and without prior preparation, I had a customised version of Semantic Scuttle […]

Ezra Pound

Friday, October 14th, 2011

The fittings and furnishings describe Ezra Pound as a grunge bar. As does the serving mixed drinks and cocktails in jam jars and longneck (750ml) beer in brown paper bags. But at least they have upgraded from VB to Cascade longnecks, since my last visit.

Saigon Cafe and Noodle House

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Saigon Cafe is not my favourite Vietnamese eating establishment in Northbridge. I prefer Phong Vinh and Tra Vinh. However, I do eat here regularly, as I have a couple of colleagues who like eating here, wine is only $8.50 a carafe and the food is good.

Golden King Barbecue, William St, Northbridge

Thursday. 6th October

I have a much shorter time available for lunch than yesterday’s luxurious lunch. So I went for straight to Golden King Barbecue, which is just around the corner from work.
